PROGRAMME

Led by: Lama Rinchen

Seminar begins on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Sunday at about 4:30 p.m.

To practise Vajrayana full transmission is necessary: empowerment, oral instructions and lung. Chod empowerment on Saturday 2nd of June at 10:00 a.m.

Chod is a very well-known practice in Tibet, based on the teachings about emptiness from Prajna Paramita. It is also a practical application of these teachings. The practitioners offer symbolically their bodies to different groups of invited guests for the benefits of all sentient beings. Machik Labdron, an outstanding female master, had a very significant role in spreading this practice. She combined teachings from four different Lineages into one comprehensive practice, which nowadays is one of the most known in Tibetan Buddhism.

The Tibetan word 'chod' means 'to cut'. The goal of this practice is to cut off four Maras, including primordial ignorance which is based on clinging to the notion of 'self' as a solid entity. Chod is a complete practice which can be one's main meditation. It helps to accumulate a great amount of merit, remove obstacles on the path and receive the blessing of insight. It is also often performed as an additional practice that enriches and deepens one's spiritual practice. This particular Chod practice, known as Milam Lungten, was composed by the great master Karma Chagme and it combines guru yoga and Chod. Since it is quite short and complex at the same time, it has been one of the most common ways of practicing Chod in Karma Kamtsang tradition for centuries.
